Sited+ is a research programme that aims to: encourage & support cross-artform conversation about sited work; clarify & stabilise appropriate terms & language; establish development needs for an ongoing programme / resource post-2015.
It is produced by Chris Fremantle, Suzy Glass and Emmie McKay for Creative Scotland.
We are changing the way we think and talk about venues for art. It is increasingly normal for artists and arts organisations to make work outwith galleries, concert halls and theatres. Sited work – and its particular challenges – is now a sector-wide issue, relevant to a growing number makers, commissioners and funders.
This programme of work replaces Public Art Scotland enabling us to address these issues with and on behalf of the whole sector. It is time-limited to allow an agenda to form with input from across the sector. By the end of March 2015 we will have developed a a more cohesive approach to sited work across artforms, a clear picture of the current landscape, and a good overview of needs and gaps. This will allow us to make recommendations for the next phase of strategic intervention and support, focussing on ongoing infrastructural development.
The programme of work includes a series of workshops and one-to-one conversations with people making sited work.
