Mull was a multi-disciplinary weekend-long residency exploring the question, ‘What would it mean to be an artist working in a sustainable Scotland in 50 years’ time?’ It took place over the last weekend of March 2014.
Mull took the disrupted and changing climate as the starting point for thinking about how artists might do things differently. It asked how the world might look in 50 years’ time and what role artists might play in the changes to come as well as what unique skills they can bring to this new context. Considering approaches to making art, as well the actual content and the infrastructure it lives within, a group of artists worked to imagine the future and understand the necessary steps towards it to stimulate some initial responses to these questions.
The weekend is designed and facilitated by composer Dave Fennessy and producer Suzy Glass. It’s a Creative Carbon Scotland initiative, produced in partnership with Comar.
